As part of the biennial exhibition Personal Structures in Venice, Studio Frischherz presents the sculpture Lovers by Rolf Frischherz. The exhibition will take place from April 20 to November 24, 2024 at Palazzo Mora in the European Cultural Centre ECC in Venice.
The sculpture Lovers is typical of Frischherz and tells of interpersonal relationships in its reduced and abstract visual language. The work consists of wire frames that are then coated with fiberglass and epoxy resin, sanded and dyed, making them robust, light and weather-resistant. The well-known motif of Lovers has been worked on by numerous artists over the centuries, including Vincent van Gogh and Renée Magritte. Rolf Frischherz's work Lovers is part of a long tradition, but as a contemporary artist he explores the theme in the context of current social developments.
The artist develops everyday objects from his sculptural works, which are produced using the current production methods and materials of our time. Since 2021, Studio Frischherz has been digitizing all of the artist's works and creating replicas of the handmade sculptures using a 3D printing process. The miniature replica of the exhibited sculpture Lovers has thus become a collector's item and can be purchased from various sales partners.
